“Education is thus a most powerful ally of Humanism, and every American public school is a school of Humanism.  What can the theistic Sunday schools, meeting for an hour once a week, and teaching only a fraction of the children, do to stem the tide of a five-day program of humanistic teaching?”    Charles Francis Potter  1928

“Here are all the elements of a religious faith that shall not be confined to sect, class, or race.  Such a faith has always been implicitly the common faith of mankind.  It remains to make it implicit and militant.”  1933

“The battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being.  These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of education level—preschool, day care, or large university.  The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new—the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism, resplendent in its promise of a world in which the never-realized Christian ideal of “love thy neighbor” will finally be achieved…humanism will emerge triumphant.  It must if the family of humankind is to survive. “

John J Dunphy   The Humanist  January/February 1983

It is now 2019 and the consequences of the ideas from the last 100 years are playing out in force.  The millennial generation is the culmination of the desire of utopian humanism.  And what do we have for it?  Millions of unaware mindless robots suffering at record levels from depression, anxiety, loneliness, substance addictions, failed marriages, and the inability to lead the masses.

Studies show that there is direct connection between the rise of depression, anxiety, and suicide among adolescents in the last ten years correlating  with the  introduction of the smart phone to the youth  culture.  As if one hundred years of daily indoctrination isn’t enough,  children now have infinite connection to all the propaganda at their fingertips and are able to share in it instantly with anyone on the planet.  Social media is advancing the godless agenda at light speed and it is ahead of man’s ability to understand its impact.  In the near future man will look back and gasp at the destruction the tools of technology have rendered on the world.

As Potter said in 1928, “Education is thus a most powerfully ally of Humanism.  What can the theistic Sunday Schools, meeting for an hour a week and teaching only a fraction of the children do to stem the tide?”

Nothing.  The agenda is complete.  Now it is left for technology to finish it off.  It will be impossible to turn around over a century of indoctrination and limitless technology without a powerful remedy. “Only Jesus is the answer” is dismissed as archaic and irrelevant. The corporate church defaults to appeasement using tolerance and a feel good message.  All the while hold up in safe castles as the world around burns to the ground.

Grace is still grace.  Mercy is still available.  The collapse is moving at warp speed in front of all those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.  There is no time nor desire for a “movement” that will reverse the course.  It falls to the quiet humble followers of the Carpenter to love their neighbor as themselves one day and one person at a time.
